Best Intentions Farm
"Working always towards our goals."
Our riding lessons place the emphasis on correct position and control, using a balanced seat approach. Using a balanced seat as a foundation riders can progress into any discipline - Pleasure, Hunt Seat, Dressage, or even Western pleasure or reining! Sheryl Nupp, Christina Yodinise, Sheila Oland, and Linda Oland tailor each lesson specifically for your needs. Each lesson begins with grooming and tacking up, allowing students to build these skills until they are able to get the horse ready on their own. By starting the lesson from the ground students immediately establish a working relationship with the horse and learn how to be safe and have control from the ground up. By the time they are in the ring and riding they have already begun developing the ability to control the horse and are much more comfortable and confident.
Lessons are either private (individual), or group lessons which consists of 2 or more riders. There are advantages to both types of lessons which we will be glad to discuss with you. Please see the Fees page for pricing. Currently there are openings for both daytime and afternoon lessons. We have children, teenagers, and adult riders and enjoy working with our students to find the perfect lesson schedule and situation. While lessons are usually held in our lighted outdoor ring we often go on "field trips", riding out in our 20 acres of pastureland, learning to ride up and down hills, cross one of our several streams, or even jumping on our small cross-country course. We often use games in our lessons and even our English riders enjoy running barrels!
Although we have a small facility, we are perfectly capable of handling any level of lesson, from beginner adult or child all the way to very experienced on either your horse or ours. Whether your goal is trail riding, reining, or eventing we can help you successfully work towards it!
